Biographical Sketch
MARY JO SHACKELFORD
Mary Jo Shackelford, is CEO and President of Exselleration, LLC, a sales, marketing and Human Resource consulting firm. She has over 25 years experience in service oriented sales and marketing, with emphasis on Staffing and Outsourcing. Exselleration utilizes the strategies and tactics encompassed by the Y2 Marketing system recognized as “Monopolize Your Marketplace.”
Mary Jo began her career as a franchise owner for a National Staffing Firm. Over the course of 4 years, Mary Jo grew this business to one of the top ten operating locations in the company. The success of this location enabled Mary Jo to move into a corporate position with the company in the Franchise division. She was responsible for opening the North East Region for the company, growing this area to over 15 successful franchise locations in less than 5 years. This involved the marketing of the franchise in each new location, securing the “right” franchisee, creating and implementing initial marketing strategies for each market, writing and implementing business plans which enabled each franchisee to reach profitability within 6 – 9 months, training franchisee on all aspects of the business, assisting in the recruiting, hiring and training of staff and providing ongoing support to the franchisee throughout their growth cycle.
As her career progressed in the staffing industry, Mary Jo has consistently focused on running profitable operations throughout the Eastern United States. This has included selling, implementing and managing multi-million dollar outsourcing projects for major corporations such as; Hughes Network Systems, Fannie Mae, Citibank, Wells Fargo, Avon Products, MCI, ADP, SmithKline-Beecham, Pepco, George Washington University, Association of American Medical Colleges and American Association of Veterinary Colleges. In addition, she has had responsibility for opening major markets throughout the NE, including Chicago, Minneapolis, Boston, Atlanta, Philadelphia and Washington, DC. In each market, Mary Jo was responsible for overseeing the entire start up process from office location, staffing to implementation of marketing and sales plans resulting in each market reaching profitability within the first year of operation. Each market operated on an 8 – 10 % Net Operating Profit.
Mary Jo has served on the Board of Directors of St. Francis Children’s Activity and Achievement Center. She is a Business Volunteer for the Arts, and actively involved in the The Greater Washington Board of Trade and DC Chamber of Commerce. Mary Jo has a BA from Ohio Dominican College, with concentrations in Art, Psychology, Business and Home Economics.
