Biographical Sketch 

 

MARY JO SHACKELFORD

Mary Jo Shackelford, is CEO and President of Exselleration, LLC, a sales, marketing and Human Resource consulting firm.  She has over 25 years experience in service oriented sales and marketing, with emphasis on Staffing and Outsourcing.  Exselleration utilizes the strategies and tactics encompassed by the Y2 Marketing system recognized as “Monopolize Your Marketplace.”  

Mary Jo began her career as a franchise owner for a National Staffing Firm.  Over the course of 4 years, Mary Jo grew this business to one of the top ten operating locations in the company.  The success of this location enabled Mary Jo to move into a corporate position with the company in the Franchise division.  She was responsible for opening the North East Region for the company, growing this area to over 15 successful franchise locations in less than 5 years.  This involved the marketing of the franchise in each new location, securing the “right” franchisee, creating and implementing initial marketing strategies for each market, writing and implementing business plans which enabled each franchisee to reach profitability within 6 – 9 months, training franchisee on all aspects of the business, assisting in the recruiting, hiring and training of staff and providing ongoing support to the franchisee throughout their growth cycle.

As her career progressed in the staffing industry, Mary Jo has consistently focused on running profitable operations throughout the Eastern United States.  This has included selling, implementing and managing multi-million dollar outsourcing projects for major corporations such as; Hughes Network Systems, Fannie Mae, Citibank, Wells Fargo, Avon Products, MCI, ADP, SmithKline-Beecham, Pepco, George Washington University, Association of American Medical Colleges and American Association of Veterinary Colleges.   In addition, she has had responsibility for opening major markets throughout the NE, including Chicago, Minneapolis, Boston, Atlanta, Philadelphia and Washington, DC.  In each market, Mary Jo was responsible for overseeing the entire start up process from office location, staffing to implementation of marketing and sales plans resulting in each market reaching profitability within the first year of operation.  Each market operated on an 8 – 10 % Net Operating Profit.

Mary Jo has served on the Board of Directors of St. Francis Children’s Activity and Achievement Center.  She is a Business Volunteer for the Arts, and actively involved in the The Greater Washington Board of Trade and DC Chamber of Commerce.  Mary Jo has a BA from Ohio Dominican College, with concentrations in Art, Psychology, Business and Home Economics. 

 

 




 
 
 

DOUGLAS A. SHACKELFORD

Douglas is the VP of Client Business Development.  As an expert in sales strategy, sales techniques and how to make marketing actually work for the small business enterprise, it is his passion to teach business owners what experience and 30 years of study have taught him.

With a humor and vitality that is positively infectious, he guides the client's business development, marketing and sales team to analyze themselves and their business, with the single minded goal of increasing sales and profits.  He does this with an energy that can be demanding and by focusing on the development of powerful marketing strategies and designed to work, not on paper or in some academic sense, but in the real world. 

The purpose of a business is to create a customer.

Marketing is a everything you do in your business to get, and keep a customer.

Douglas is a Master Consulting Agent (MCA) certified in the use and application of the "Monopolize Your Marketplace" developed and licensed by Y2 Marketing of Dallas, TX.  He has also developed a strategic relationship with "INTENET" and "Capital Success Strategies". He has been certified as an Entrepreneurial Advisor (CEA) giving him the authority to implement the strategies and techniques for attracting capital, investors and advising his clients on the utilization of all sections of the full program methodology.

He has over 30 years of experience in sales, marketing, business development, program selection, and process integration for businesses from start-ups to Fortune 500 members.  

His skills have been developed in positions with hands on responsibility for high dollar volume account penetration, development and management.  He has demonstrated high levels of capability in working with and maintaining close relationships with key decision makers, high level managers and "C" level executives.

Doug's early career included industrial construction supervision, field engineering and hands-on duties in the management of technical programs in primary metals, secondary metals, petroleum refining, chemical manufacturing, paper manufacturing, and power generation.  He holds a BA with concentrations in chemistry and biology.  He began his sales career in closely held private corporations and moved on positions with increasing responsibilities at Combustion Engineering, Nalco Chemical, and Suez, all multi-billion dollar companies with global
 
 
 
 
 
operations.
Douglas is now:
  • a member of the District of Columbia Chamber of Commerce where he serves on the Communications Committee
  • a member of the Greater Washington Board of Trade, where he has been the principal instructor for the Marketing Module in their "Small Business Academy" program and is a member of the Regional Transportation and Development Task Force
  • the Key Instructor, in both sales and marketing, for the National Women's Business Center
  • a facilitator for business marketing at the Chesapeake Bay Organizational Development Network (CBODN)
  • Presenter for multiple sessions of the Mid-Atlantic Facilitators Network
  • Presenter and Discussion leader for the Archbishop Carroll HS "Business Champion's" program
